Let me introduce myself – I’m Miriam.
I’ve always had a zest for adventure and exploration. Funny enough, I didn’t get the “travel bug” until after I started working in my fabulous career following university.
Once I started, I knew that it would take a lot for me to stop.
Unlike many travellers, I never took a year off to see the world but have been fortunate to incorporate multiple adventures into my life.
Born and raised in Toronto, Canada my first trip outside of North America was to Israel – where I now am writing you from. Since that initial journey, I’ve managed to see a lot of other parts of the world including living and working in a tiny island in the English Channel (Jersey, UK), visiting Australia and seeing other amazing sites across Europe.
In 2006 I made the move to the UK and lived and worked there until September 2009. I’m now based in Israel and am travelling throughout the region.
I’ve had a lot of interesting experiences in my life so far and I’ve learned that life is a journey that we need to embrace and explore.
The title of this blog – “Travelling Starfish” – has a special significance to me.
For my birthday this past year, a year that I faced many personal challenges, my good friend gave me a pendant in the shape of a starfish. I found out that starfish are known for regeneration. Apparently, they can regenerate even one arm into a whole new body. The significance behind the gift was to offer me strength like that of a starfish – the power to regenerate and to be resilient.
I wanted to give this blog this title as sometimes I feel that travelling – seeing different places and experiencing different cultures – helps me on the path to regeneration.
I’m glad that you’ve decided to join me in my journey and I look forward to sharing the adventures ahead of me with you.
Enjoy,
Miriam x
